Update, July 15: Pokemon Go is now available in the UK, in the Play Store and the App Store. Go forth and become a Trainer.
Original post, July 14: The Pokémon Go craze is about to engulf Europe.
Users in Germany are reporting – and we can confirm it – that Pokémon Go is now available for download, both in the Play Store and Apple’s App Store. The official Pokémon Go Twitter account confirmed the release minutes ago.
It looks like Niantic has solved the initial server capacity problems, at least in part. The game initially launched in Australia and New Zealand, followed by the US. By Friday, the explosion in interest strained Niantic’s servers so much that the Alphabet-owned company decided to halt the global rollout. On Monday, sources said Japan and European countries would finally get to catch’em all “within a few days.”
What about other countries in Europe? Unless Niantic adopted a highly cautious rollout strategy, we believe that other larger markets in Europe will also get Pokémon Go very soon. The internet worked itself in a frenzy over Pokémon Go and the pent-up demand puts the pressure on Niantic – and its IP partner, The Pokémon Company – to deliver.
Readers in Germany, go ahead and download Pokémon Go. Other European readers, what about you, any luck in your country?
